Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida and with a branch office in Toronto, Canada, we offer railroad signal engineering services, rail systems and railway products. Our team have an extensive background in the United States, Canada and International Railroad Industry focusing on large capital systems and projects as well as PTC and signal engineering services. Starting from a small railway services engineering office of two people, United Rail has grown to now support multiple Class I freight and transit rail operators across North America.
United Rail Engineering Services provides a variety of traditional and modern signal & communication engineering design and engineering services for the railroad industry. Our Engineering Services group currently offers multiple capabilities to the rail industry such as application programming (for example, Alstom VPI, GE ElectrologIXS, VHLC, etc.), freight and transit signal system design, PTC integration, cab signaling, etc.
United Rail Systems and Products focuses on systems and products for the freight and transit rail segment both with internally developed solutions like Sentinel Solutions (which includes the Switch Sentinel) along with foreign technologies like HaslerRail, DB Engineering & Consulting, BBR, Ganser CRS, etc. Not only is United Rail there to help the foreign groups increase business in North America, we are also here to help the North American rail system market get access to the best technologies and systems worldwide.
Norwin K. Voegeli, is the founder and majority-owner of United Rail since its creation in 2012. A native of Switzerland and a permanent US resident since 2009, he brings 17+ years of experience in Rail Automation and Signaling in the international and North American railway services markets.
After graduating from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1975, Bob began his railroad career with the Milwaukee Railroad.
Brad holds a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in several states as well as the province of Ontario, Canada. Brad has dual citizenship in the United States and Canada. Brad has been working in the railway services industry since 1990.
Paul Campbell joined United Rail in January 2016 in his role as Manager of Business Development. Paul brings over 40 years of railroad experience from various segments including freight, transit and passenger rail. Paul started his rail career in 1974 in Erie, Pennsylvania with GE Transportation in their
Bob joined the United Rail team by June 2016 and has over 26 years of experience of engineering and project management in the railroad industry. In 1990, he first started with Harmon Electronics as a draftsman and worked his way into engineering, designing highway grade crossing and wayside
Andrea Voegeli takes care for the entire United Rail Business Administration. A native of Germany and a permanent US resident since 2009, she brings 12+ years of experience in Business Administration in international and North American markets
